ABOUT US
The Background
In the spring of 2019, we moved from Massachusetts to beautiful Chester County, Pennsylvania. We purchased this gorgeous 10-acre property, with rolling hills and a 300-year-old sycamore tree. We immediately christened the estate 'Sycamore Hill Farm'.
That summer, we built a big barn, put up fencing, and ran water lines. Shortly thereafter, 5 fainting goats and a Jersey steer took up residence.
The first sheep (3 ewes, 1 ram, and 1 wether) were on farm that autumn, and in April 2020, we had our first crop of spring lambs.
The hayfields have been seeded, limed, and fertilized, and in June and July 2020, we baled up our first harvest of hay. It's a joy and a comfort to feed our animals lush pasture, and then to have hay from our own land to nourish them through the winter months.
We will continue to improve the Shetland sheep breed, and strive for fine fleece and sturdy, proper confirmation in accordance to the 1927 standards.
